The managers at my project are great people. Very accessible and good mentors.
Graduate, Karratha - 18 Apr 2024
Large variability in managers and their priorities, have had periods of exceptionally bad comms under some managers, normally a short flurry of better comms after the Glint survey says they're all middling.

The ones I have worked with have been great, my direct manager has been a great mentor and senior staff continuously provide feedback

Some managers are completely absent and there is no clear or frequent communication. Direct managers are generally very good, personable, good leadership skills etc.

Leaders are good to provide feedback, including positive and negative. Leader are helping you to think outside the box and jump out of your comfort zone. They will let you know where can gain experience and where to get the correct person to ask the right question. Leaders like to recognize people for the awesome works that people did, which promote a sense of valuable when working in the team.

My manager is really great, I couldn't find a bad comment. She has boots on the ground and as a manager, still produces as much work as any of us. She will always make time for her team, but she doesn't have the time. Resource constraints is a real challenge, you have to pick the right time for mentorship, feedback etc.

-Have found all managers to always have time or ability to make time for you, and genuinely care about your development -Managers schedule regular catch-up to ensure constant communication opportunities exist -Will always take the opportunity to share positive feedback, and will deliver constructive feedback in a private and respectful manner -Have felt feedback was given consistently on both behaviors and technical work -Have felt managers have been reluctant to give constructive feedback, possibly for fear of affecting confidence/straining relationship - which I'll acknowledge is not the worst problem to have -Have felt leaders are generally aspirational ones, in terms of how they deal with conflict/stress/difficult situations, how they conduct themselves as a professional, how they communicate, how they present themselves, how they build relationships

Line manager are great at mentoring and providing feedback. I have worked with a range of 'higher up' managers. Some have been more willing to help and mentor than others.
